If you are familiar with the band Atlanta, you know there were 9 ( count 'em) members.
The group at its start had 4. Signing a record deal with MDJ Records of Dallas and Atlanta, the NEW BAND ( actually a 4 member outfit) played the Country Music DJ appreciation party in Nashville, and the "Super Pickers" ( Buddy Emmons, Phil Baugh et al) were backing them up. The suggestion was made to expand he 4 man team and help capture that big sound, so one by one members were added, raising the level of music and versatililty at the same time.
Additional vocals made for 5 lead singers, a super harmonica player and bass singer, two drummers, two keyboards, an electric fiddle, extra percussion, and the twin guitars of Alan and Bill, all made for quite a big sound, and an interesting stage show.
Audiences were constantly surprised by the changes on stage as different guys took the lead, and the style of music also was never the same.
From Tony's big vocals, to Brad's sweet ballads, Bill's different sounding southern style, and Alan's rock n roll roots sound it all added up to a fun show.
Even MCA Record execs were taken aback by the big sounds.
At Harrah's in Lake Tahoe management raved about the group's shows there.
It was a hard act to follow, as many of the artists of the day found out when Atlanta opend for them on the big stages.
